Ashima Goyal, a member of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Economic Advisory Council, believes that the general budget lacks foresight. However, relaxing the fiscal deficit target and simplifying the income tax are positive steps. Goyal said in the Indira Gandhi Institute for Development Research that it is surprising to not mention the economic softness even once in the speech of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for about three hours.
